“The key to connection is emotion. We cannot think our way to it, we have to feel it.”

Our emotions are like the paint on an artist’s palette, transforming neutral events, facts and interactions into a colourful story. They create context, depth and meaning. They imbue perspective and create memories. Running the gamut from fear to love, destructive to life-giving, emotions are at the very core of the human experience.

Emotions are an extremely powerful form of communication – one that comes from the heart and speaks ultimately for peace, love, balance and harmony.

Nature’s language – straight from the heart

Unlike our thoughts which mostly arise from the conditioned mind, emotions are a direct response from our deepest wisdom, which is connected to Nature and all living things. By learning the language of emotions we can move ourselves towards love, acceptance and fulfillment. We can learn to coexist in peace and at the same time expand into higher levels of awareness and consciousness without harming ourselves or others. Undisturbed by humans, the natural world already knows how to do this and we have much to learn from what is essentially Nature’s language. Like any other language, skill and fluency can be learned and developed over time with practice, focus and commitment.

Raising consciousness through feeling

If we learn to listen, emotions tell us when we are moving towards balance and harmony, or away from it. Emotions are also the gateway to our unconscious mind and our deepest wisdom, higher self, or soul. Through feeling, not thinking, we are able to access our inner truth which always speaks ultimately for love and connection. Through feeling, not thinking, we are also able to bring into consciousness our deeply imbedded negative conditioning that underlies and perpetuates the things in life that bring us pain, discomfort and conflict. Once brought into consciousness, we create the opportunity for transformation and change.

“Feelings or emotions are the universal language and are to be honored. They are the authentic expression of who you are at your deepest place.” ~ Judith Wright
